Let me share you about our unforgettable Easter Sunday in Lucca, Italy!
My wife, her parents, our furry family member, Toto, and I started the day by walking along the stunning Serchio River. It was a beautiful way to start the day, with the sound of the water and fresh air filling our lungs.
We stopped by a fantastic local café called Pane e Marmellata for breakfast and indulged in some delicious coffee and pastry. We definitely recommend visiting this café if you’re ever in Lucca.
After breakfast, we made our way up the hill to visit the church of San Quirico, which overlooks the Serchio and the city. The climb was definitely worth it, as the view from the top was simply breathtaking.
As we made our way back down the hill, we couldn’t resist stopping at one of our other favourite cafes that sits directly opposite the river. The coffee was fantastic, as always, and the view was simply stunning. We then decided to take a leisurely stroll through the nearby park area, enjoying the warm spring weather. As we were wandering through the park, we stumbled upon a Sicilian Street Food market, which was on for the Easter weekend. We couldn’t believe our luck – there was so much delicious Sicilian food on offer! We sampled some arancini, cannoli, and took home some other treats to share with friends later. It was a real highlight of the day.
Afterwards, we headed back into town as the masses were also making their way within the walls. It was great to see the city come alive with locals and tourists alike, enjoying the beautiful weather and lively atmosphere. We continued to explore the charming streets of Lucca, taking in the stunning architecture and soaking up the vibrant culture.
To make sure we never forget this lovely day, I recorded all the highlights using my new camera. We captured Toto’s tail wagging with excitement during her own explorations, and the stunning sights and sounds of Lucca. It was the perfect way to spend Easter Sunday with loved ones, exploring a new place and creating unforgettable memories.
